Spring grain and leguminous crops in Ukraine were sowed on an area of 761,000 hectares as of March 31, which is 19% of the forecast (4.048 million hectares) and 225,000 hectares less than on the same date last year, the Ukrainian Ministry of Agricultural Policy and Food has reported.
Spring wheat was sowed on 47,000 hectares, barley on 566,000 hectares, oats on 44,000 hectares, and peas on 101,000 hectares.
Spring sowing is carried out in 18 regions. The largest area under crops is at farms - Crimea - 64,900 hectares (95% of the forecast), Mykolaiv region - 129,800 hectares (71%), Kherson region - 105,900 hectares (59%), and Odesa region - 164,100 hectares (55%).
