The Andersons, Inc. Turf & Specialty Group has received two U.S. Patents relating to granule dispersability. These new patents are the latest additions to a portfolio of patented technologies owned by The Andersons, Inc.
The Andersons, Inc. received the patent for Pesticide Delivery Granule (US Patent 7,867,507) for Duocide January 11. As part of the Dispersible Granule (DG) family, this patented formulation process combines carbaryl and bifenthren to deliver broad spectrum insect control that disperses immediately into the soil. Duocide is both a preventative and curative pesticide product that works on both surface and subsurface insects, and provides excellent curative grub control.
The Andersons, Inc. received the patent for Dispersible Potash Pellets (US Patent 7,789,932) September 7, 2010. The unique formulation allows for immediate dispersion of fertilizer into the soil, thus eliminating nutrient loss due to mower pick up.
Development work on the technologies that lead to both patents was funded in part by a Research Commercialization Grant as part of the Ohio Third Frontier Program. “The issuance of these patents brings new technology to the turf industry and allows for highly-efficient and immediate dispersion of products into the soil," says Chuck Anderson, director of technical & marketing development for the Turf & Specialty Group.
The Andersons Turf & Specialty Group has also received registration approval for immediate sale of Prophesy Fungicide in Canada.
Prophesy is a systematic fungicide impregnated on the patented DGPro carrier that disperses upon contact with water, dew, rain, or irrigation. This eliminates loss of product due to mower pick-up. Prophesy prevents and controls turf diseases such as dollar spot (including benzimidazole tolerant stains), brown patch, anthracnose, and rust. Prophesy Fungicide contains propiconazole as the fungicide active ingredient, which is ideal for use in snow mold and control programs.
"The Canadian Pest Management Regulatory Agency (PMRA) registration for the sale of Prophesy into Canada is very important to the golf industry,” says Anderson.
