Belchim Crop Protection has acquired the distribution rights for Nihon Nohyaku’s acaricide, tebufenpyrad, in a large number of countries worldwide. As part of the agreement, Belchim Crop Protection is managing the renewal of the approval of the active substance tebufenpyrad in Europe and submitted the renewal dossier in April this year. Products containing tebufenpyrad will be marketed under the names of Shirudo® and Pyranica® and benefit from broad spectrum activity against different mite species, effects on all stages, strong knock-down, translaminar activity, and long lasting efficacy. In the next phase, Belchim Crop Protection will seek further extension of its use into crops additional to those currently registered.
Johan De Saegher, CEO of Belchim states, “This agreement builds on the core strategy and competences of our company, to bring Japanese technology to the agricultural market and to develop sustainable solutions with the best technical advice for growers. We are happy to work together with our Japanese partners such as Nihon Nohyaku to combine R&D, regulatory knowledge and market power to maximize the potential of the products.”
Frederic Charpentier, Director Sales South and East at Belchim comments about the agreement, “The tebufenpyrad deal shows a new step forward in the partnership of Nihon Nohyaku, Nichino Europe and Belchim Crop Protection. Tebufenpyrad will enable Belchim to conquer new markets, new segments, new territories, and new relationships.”
Manfred Hilweg, Managing Director of Nichino Europe states, “Over recent decades, Belchim Crop Protection and Nihon Nohyaku/Nichino Europe have developed a very close and successful partnership, primarily in Europe. The co-operation on tebufenpyrad is an exciting opportunity to expand this partnership to territories outside Europe and to maximise the potential of tebufenpyrad.”
