Sipcam Nichino Brasil exclusively announced to AgroPages the launch of the insecticide Takumi, aimed at controlling the caterpillar complex in soybean, corn, cotton and sugar cane crops, among other crops. The differential, according to the Italian-Japanese manufacturer, is the active ingredient Flubendiamide, belonging to Nichino, and also by the concentrated suspension formulation, described as innovative in the segment.
“It is a high-performance insecticide on the most difficult to control caterpillars. The product complements the Sipcam Nichino solution package for cereal, sugar cane and horticultural fruits”, points out agronomist engineer Carulina Oliveira, product manager.
According to Sipcam Nichino, before reaching the market, the new Takumi was the target of almost 200 Research & Development works, carried out in different points of the Brazilian agricultural frontier. The studies involved 30 consultancies of relevance in the country, and covered two applications per crop since the 2015-16 cycle, in doses of 150 ml / ha, 250 ml / ha or 300 ml / ha.
Both in first and second application, emphasizes Carulina Oliveira, in a few days the insecticide delivered above average results in terms of control effectiveness, between 80% and 100%, in comparison to producers' standard treatment.
According to the results in the field, Sipcam Nichino said, Takumi showed to be highly effective in controlling Heliotis virescens, Spodoptera sp, Helicoverpa armigera, Diatraea saccharalis, Pseudaletia sequax, Tuta absoluta and Chrysodeixis includens. The new product is also registered for peanut, bean, tomato and wheat crops.
“Soon after being applied, Takumi stops the caterpillar attack. The product acts by contact (translaminar action) or by ingestion and is selective to various natural enemies of controlled caterpillars ”, adds Carulina Oliveira. This characteristic, complements the agronomist, makes the new insecticide ideal for the practice of managing pest resistance to products, through rotation between different active ingredients, and for IPM (integrated pest management).
The president of Sipcam Nichino Brasil, Alexandre Gobbi, points out that with the launch of Takumi, the company starts a new growth strategy. The company provides a broad portfolio of acaricides, adjuvants, fungicides, herbicides and insecticides. Gobbi explains that the expectation of the brand is to bring to the market at least 22 new products, under registration by 2025. “To keep growing, we focus on market access and development of solutions resulting from innovation”, concludes Gobbi.
