Saviolife is part of the Italian Saviola Group, the eco-ethical company that has made sustainability and environmental-friendly products its guiding light for over sixty years. The core business of the Saviola Group is recycling wood products and in this way it created a “circular economy” before the term was even coined. Saviolife is the last legal entity of the group and was founded in 2019, dedicated to life science products and focusing on technical products for the fertilizer industry, including specialty fertilizers and vegetal extracts for agriculture and turf & ornamental markets. Its products are real eco-friendly alternatives that are safer for the environment. Saviolife achieves this without compromising quality and performance in any way.
Mr. Marco Sgarioto, Export Manager of Saviolife, was recently interviewed by AgroPages and explained how the slow release fertilizers and vegetal tannin extracts of Saviolife bring “the Rhythms of Nature” to the industry.
Which agricultural sectors are Saviolife’s products mainly used in? What are the characteristics of these products?
Saviolife offers a wide range of products, divided into two main groups: Sazolene, a real Slow Release Nitrogen (SRN) and Saviotan, a natural plant extract that is useful to increase resistance to biotic and abiotic stress.
Sazolene, is a unique and innovative nitrogen source and is available in liquid and granular formulations. The slow release method of action is thanks to the interaction with soil bacteria and plant leaves enzymes. This ensures slow release of nitrogen in synchronization with plant demand, to avoid the dangerous lost in the underground water and ammonia volatilization while feeding the plants at a much better cost-efficacy balance.
Saviotan, available in liquid and granular formulations, is a fully organic and solvent free extract of high concentration hydrolysable polyphenols, with unique properties, which is able to stimulate the plant roots growth and endogenous defense.
What advantages does Saviola offer in terms of raw materials and product development when developing a new product? What product development or investment plans does Saviola have for the next 3-5 years?
The concept behind all of Saviolife’s products, is to grow crops, fruits, turf and ornamental plants at very high efficiency while reducing cost and with minimum environmental impact. Saviolife is part of the Saviola Group and thanks to its considerable economy scale, it is able to produce and offer competitive solutions for the fertilizer industry. Saviolife is planning to make major investments over the next 3-5 years to expand its offer in different areas in line with global ecological trends and demand for sustainable products.
How do you see the future development potential of biological products? What are the current problems affecting their marketing?
The biological products and all type of solutions more ecofriendly developed from the Industry are a must for the future of the agriculture sector. Saviolife, as a company with a sustainable vision, based on circular economy processes, is already offering high efficiency solution with minimal impact. The problems related to the marketing sector are linked to the definition of boundaries in which more coded parameters have to be defined, to grant the market about the clear efficacy of specific products: Biostimulants are a clear example of this difficulty.
In which countries and regions are Saviolife's products currently sold? Is there any plan to expand to new countries and regions in the future?
Our company’s facilities are located in Italy and Belgium, but our presence is global: from North America to Asia Pacific. Europe is our domestic market.
Today we are very dedicated to expanding our presence in several markets, such as Latin America, the Middle East, Africa and other markets that represent a strategical development for the next future.
We are extending the registration of our products in many of these markets and looking for new partnerships and strategic alliances. Saviolife is growing strongly and we are very interested in meeting new partners to promote our liquid and granular fertilizers and offer our technologies and high efficiency fertilizers in new emerging markets to help them create a better future for agriculture.
