Penthiopyrad

Penthiopyrad is a novel pyrazole—carboxamide fungicide discovered by Mitsui Chemicals of Japan in 1996 and jointly developed by Mitsui Chemicals and DuPont (now Corteva). It is effective against powdery mildew, scab and brown spot of fruit trees and many other crop diseases. Penthiopyrad was registered in Japan in 2008, with its global sales rose to 60 million USD in 2016. DuPont expects the peak annual sales of Penthiopyrad to reach more than 100 million USD. The Chinese patent of Penthiopyrad expired on April 10, 2016.

Metrafenone

Metrafenone is a fungicide developed by BASF. It was first created by American Cyanamide Company (now BASF) in 1998. Metrafenone has obvious preventive and therapeutic effects, and is mainly used for the prevention and control of powdery mildew and other diseases in crops such as grains, grapes, and cucumbers. Sales of metrafenone in 2016 reached 45 million USD. The expiration date of its Chinese patent is August 19, 2018.

Fluoxastrobin

Fluoxastrobin is the third-generation strobilurin fungicide discovered and developed by Bayer in 1994, and first entered the main European market in 2004; it is now jointly developed by Arysta, Bayer and FMC. Fluoxastrobin has a broad control spectrum and can prevent diseases caused by oomycetes, ascomycetes, deuteromycetes and basidiomycetes. The annual sales of fluoxastrobin have exceeded 200 million USD, and the compound patent of fluoxastrobin in China has expired on January 14, 2017.
