Union Minister of State for Chemicals and Fertilisers, Mansukh Laxmanbhai Mandoviya instructed Ramagundam Fertilizers and Chemicals Limited(RFCL) officials to start production by November by completing all works. Laxmanbhai along with Union Minister of State for Home Affair G Kishan Reddy visited the RFCL and examined ongoing works on Saturday. Later, they conducted a review meeting with officials on the progress of the plant.
Speaking on the occasion, he said in order to fulfill the aspiration of local people expressed at the time of Telangana agitation, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has decided to reopen Fertilizer Corporation of India (FCI), which was closed in 1980. Works were taken up with Rs 6120.5 crore. Mjority of works of the plant were completed though works have been delayed by three months due to Covid-19 pandemic. Start production from November by completing Ammonia and Urea plants.
Works of water, current and gas supply have already been completed. Required technical support and advises have been taken from foreign countries. The Minister advised officials to start production from October by completing stabilization by November. Every year, 12.5 lakh metric tons of urea would be produced. Of that 6.25 metric tons would be allocated to Telangana state. Fertilizer troubles of farmers would be solved once the production was started.
Four crore metric tons of Urea has been utilized across the country every year. Of that 2.5 crore metric tons has been imported. Five fertilizer units were utilized to produce Urea in the country. Talking about providing employment to local people, the union minister informed that about 700 to 800 additional jobs would be provided once the unit was started.
