In view of the warning of possible locust attacks in several districts of Haryana after July 22, the state government has stepped up
efforts to control the pest swarms to prevent any damage to crops, officials said on last Thursday.
Arrangements are being made to stock additional quantities of pesticide Lambda Cyhalothrin 5 EC, as locust swarms in the
region have become resistant to the commonly used pesticide Chlorpyrifos, the officials said.
To prevent homogeneity in use of pesticides during repeated spraying, arrangements are being made to stock another 20,000
litres of Lambda Cyhalothrin.
The Haryana State Cooperative Supply and Marketing Federation Ltd (Hafed) will stock an additional 10,000 litres of Lambda
Cyhalothrin, Haryana Seed Development Corporation (HSDC) would stock 4,000 litre, and the Haryana Land Reclamation and
Development Corporation (HLRDC) will stock 6,000 litre. Hafed, HLRDC and HSDC already have approximately 48,000 litres of
Chlorpyrifos in stock, whereas HLRDC has 5,000 litres of Lambda Cyhalothrin.
