Casa Bugre and Agrivalle lunched, on 13th May, a new microbiological nematicide with three microorganisms, which are two bacteria,
Bacillus subtilis and
Bacillus licheniformis, and a fungus,
Purpureocillium lilacinum.
According to the manufacturers, Profix has a WP formulation and is easy to apply, with high solubility, low dosage made possible by its high concentration of active ingredients, and varied and complementary modes of action to chemicals.
“The management of phytonmatodes is a considerable challenge, since we need to integrate different tools to be successful and obtain good results. Profix, the most distinct and complete biological product, was created to give producers more security by including several modes of action in nematode management,” said Fernando Sousa (Marketing Manager of Casa Bugre-Agrivalle).
According to Eduardo Bernardo (Director of Research and Development of Biologicals at Casa Bugre-Agrivalle), the product interferes with the entire phyto-nematode cycle, therefore, reducing numbers, reproduction and damage to the root system of plants. Currently, it is the most complete and versatile solution on the market for managing this major phytosanitary problem, he said.
Profix is registered for use against two major phytonomatodes,
Meloidogyne incognita and
Pratylenchus brachyurus, which have the highest frequency of occurrence in Brazil. “I believe that this is a milestone, as the product represents a new era in the biological control of phytonmatodes, an era of complex and multifunctional products that will meet the needs and challenges of Brazilian agriculture,” Bernardo added.
The microbiological nematicide was launched during NemaScience, an online meeting that brought together big names in nematology to showcase recent developments in the control of soil worms. Among the speakers were Dr. Hercules Campos (UniRV), Dr. Flávio Medeiros (UFLA), Dr. Rosangela Silva (MT Foundation), Dr. Pedro Soares (UNESP) and Dr. Claudia Arieira (UEM), as well as Dr. Bernardo.
