Red Sun speeds up cooperation with biological enterprise to develop paraquat antidote

 

The Institute of Environmental and Plant Protection of the Chinese Academy of Tropical Agricultural Sciences, together with experts from the First Affiliated Hospital of Hainan Medical College, have succeeded in developing the world's first new compound, a paraquat-specific antidote, which has been granted a national invention patent and the right of claim. Hainan Kunning Biotechnology is a professional high-tech company specialized in the development of specific antidotes for pyridine herbicides such as paraquat, covering research optimization, animal experimentation, clinical trials and industrialization. The company has signed worldwide exclusive transfer agreements with research institutions over the development, production and operation of the paraquat-specific antidote patent/subsequent patents-related products. So far, preliminary and pilot trials have been completed, which will allow for the industrialization after obtaining the clinical trial and registration approvals from the National Medical Products Administration.

 

At present, the safety and effectiveness of the paraquat antidote has been proven after being experimented on animals. This is the first time that mankind can fund a small molecular compound which can specifically combine the paraquat molecule to quickly make it lose toxicity, a remarkable achievement in the detoxification of the pyridine herbicide.
