Date:03-26-2020
Recently,
Jiangsu Changqing Agrochemical announced that its wholly-owned subsidiary, Jiangsu Changqing Agrochemical (Nantong) Ltd, completed the environmental compliance completion acceptance on February 20, 2020, for pollution control facilities pertaining to the 1,600-ton diafenthiuron technical and by-product project.
The 1,600-ton diafenthiuron technical and by-product project began in August 2018 and was put into commission from March 26, 2019, which went on until March 25, 2020.
Diafenthiuron technical is a kind of thiourea insecticide and acaricide developed by Ciba-Geigy (now Syngenta), which is used to control piercing-sucking mouthpart pests and mites on cotton, fruit trees, vegetables and ornamental plants. In 1991, diafenthiuron was introduced to the market under the trade names, Polo and Pegasus. In 2014, its global sales reached US$145 million, with an average annual growth rate of 23.7% from 2009 to 2014. The product is a thiourea-structured insecticide, which is very rare among insecticides, allowing for the conversion into a mitochondrial respiratory inhibitor inside pests. Strictly speaking, it is a pro-insecticide, which is effective for the control of lepidoptera pests and mites, thus facilitating the product to grow rapidly.
The product exited the EU market in 2003, now mainly serving the cotton crops in Brazil, India and Pakistan. It can also effectively control whitefly and piercing-sucking mouthpart pests.
