Agrimetis announces issued patents protecting its SpinoMetis insecticides
Date:03-18-2020
Lutherville, MD - AgriMetis, LLC announces that patent applications covering novel chemicals and methods of making its spinosyn derived insecticide, SpinoMetis, have been issued as U.S. Patent Nos. 10,570,165 and 10,570,166 by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. Additional U.S. and international applications filed by the company are still pending.
SpinoMetis compounds are novel semi-synthetic active ingredients from the highly sought-after spinosyn class of chemistry and mode of action (IRAC group 5). AgriMetis starts with natural products from the fermentation of a microbial organism, which are then optimized to produce the SpinoMetis active ingredient.
Field trials conducted during 2019 in North and South America against a variety of important pests have shown superior control with the SpinoMetis lead compound compared to commercial standards. AgriMetis has developed several microbial strains to produce natural spinosyn compounds with high yields, including compounds that make the precursors to the SpinoMetis active ingredients.
"We are excited that our proprietary technology will lead to products that will expand the options for growers within this efficacious and environmentally friendly class of chemicals," stated Dr. Andrew Plant, Chief Technology Officer of AgriMetis.
