The Portuguese agrochemical company, Ascenza, formerly called Sapec Agro, announced the launch of its Sea4CS project, which aims to continue its research and development of more sustainable CS (microencapsulated) formulations produced from marine resources.
Beginning in March, the project will see the start of the joint work of multidisciplinary teams from Ascenza and participating universities. According to the company, this will ensure greater technological innovation and generate higher levels of knowledge about co-formulants of marine origin.
The research and development (R&D) project, Sea4CS, aims to develop innovative formulations of insecticides and herbicides from co-formulants sourced from renewable sources. It is also financed by the Portugal 2020 Program.
“At a time when it is essential to be aware of market needs and the environmental challenges faced by the plant protection sector, the R&D project, Sea4CS, aims to develop innovative insecticide and herbicide formulations using co-formulants of renewable origin,” the company said.
“The use of marine resources will enable Ascenza to maintain the quality that it is recognized for, as well as to promote the sustainability of its products. This project is the result of several months of analysis and planning, which enabled the company to obtain approval and financing from the Portugal 2020 Program, to complete its planned tasks for March this year,” it added.
