Agriculture Minister Jai Parkash Dalal said that the Centre had laid great stress on micro-irrigation in the Budget with an aim to promote the method among farmers.
Interacting with mediapersons in Bhiwani, he said there was a provision of giving up to 85 per cent subsidy on equipment in the micro-irrigation sector by the state government. “This will promote drip irrigation among farmers, save irrigation water and increase production,” he said.
The minister said farmer producer organisations were being formed for the benefit of small farmers.
He said Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar would address a public meeting in this regard at Kairu village of the Tosham assembly constituency on March 7.
“A roadmap has been prepared for various development works, which will be executed in every area of Bhiwani district. Old sewage and petroleum lines in the city will be replaced. Similarly, roads that require maintenance will be renovated,” said Dalal.
He said excellence centres of horticulture, animal husbandry, fisheries etc. would be set up in Bhiwani. “Sheep farming is being promoted, for which special centres will be opened,” said the minister.
