The launch coincided with the first day of the 30th Official Opening of the Rice Harvest, part of the Technical Forum Space in the auditorium of the Experimental Station Terras Baixas, located in Capão do Leão/RS.
The application provides management instructions and estimates of crop productivity.
The forum will also present the future cultivar BRS A705 while researchers Silvio Steinmetz and Ariano Martins de Magalhães will, respectively, present the new technologies.
The Rice Plan
The application was developed in partnership between Embrapa, UFSM and INMET over two modules. The first module is based on degree-days and aims to estimate the occurrence date of the six stages of recommended cultivars’ development, averaged over several years during the harvest season, in order to facilitate planning and decision-making related to the management of crops.
The second module uses the SimulArroz model to estimate the grain yields over several years during the harvest season of the three most planted cultivars in the state.
The technology is a result of the joint efforts, over many stages of application development, of Embrapa Clima Temperado, the FieldCrops team at the Federal University of Santa Maria (UFSM), Rio Grandense do Arroz Institute (IRGA), and Instituto Nacional de Meteorologia (INMET).
Irrigated Rice BRS A705
The future BRS A705 irrigated rice cultivar will be showcased to visitors and can be seen in technology presentations. It is an evolution of BRS Pampa, doe through flexibility in handling. Its advantages include resistance to lodging, increasing productivity and quality of grains. Experimental trials have shown that it can reach a yield of over 10 tons per hectare.
The 30th Official Opening of Colheita do Arroz is promoted by Federarroz and Embrapa. It also supported by several companies, such as IRGA, BASF, John Deere, Massey Ferguson, New Holland, LindSay, Senar/RS, Sicredi, Banco do Brasil, Banrisul, 3 Tentos Agroindustrial, Tecon and Badesul.
