Embrapa Soja and Fundação Meridional launch during the Show Rural Coopavel, which will be held from February 2nd to 7th, in Cascavel (PR), two soybean cultivars - BRS 543RR and BRS 1061IPRO - highly competitive to meet the demands of producers in São Paulo, Paraná and Mato Grosso do Sul. BRS 543RR has as its main differential the characteristics of Block technology, that is, they are tolerant to the attack of bedbugs. "The technology allows for better coexistence with insects in the field and, although it does not dispense with the use of insecticides, it greatly extends the protection of crops against the attack of the pest", explains researcher Carlos Arrabal Arias ", from Embrapa Soja.
In addition, BRS 543RR is a highly productive cultivar with associated early maturity (maturity group 6.0), characteristics that guarantee excellent performance in early sowing. “It is a very competitive option for producers who adopt the succession system with other crops, which allows the sowing of safrinha corn, for example,” explains researcher Marcos Rafael Petek. “In addition, it is resistant to the main soybean diseases, including Phytophthora root rot”, reinforces the researcher.
Because of its tolerance to glyphosate, BRS 543RR also collaborates with weed control and can be used as a refuge option for Intact soybean areas. The new cultivar is recommended for São Paulo, Paraná and Mato Grosso do Sul, covering the entire soybean macro-region 2 (RECs 201, 202, 203 and 204).
Producers who sow soybeans in the soybean macro-region 2 now have on the market a new high yield and early soybean option (maturity group 6.1), BRS 1061IPRO. This launch allows for the early planting of soybeans, which makes it possible to sow a second crop. “The cultivar has high productive potential, especially in higher and more fertile regions”, highlights Petek. BRS 1061IPRO also has resistance to the main diseases, being moderately resistant to the infestation of gall nematodes (M. javanica and M. incognita).
The new cultivar is transgenic of the type “Intacta RR2PRO” with tolerance to the herbicide glyphosate and the presence of the gene that confers resistance to some caterpillars that attack soybean crops such as Anticarsia gemmatalis and Chrysodeixis includens.
