Syngenta Spain launches Primextra Liquid Gold herbicide
Date:01-21-2020
Primextra Liquid Gold® is a dual action residual herbicide for the cultivation of sunflowers, and is especially recommended for its high efficiency in the control of both grass and dicotyledonous weeds during their preemergence.
Syngenta launched Primextra Liquid Gold®, a new herbicide in the cultivation of sunflowers, especially recommended for its high efficiency in the control of broadleaf and narrow weeds in their pre-emergence. Thanks to the combination of its two active materials with two different and complementary modes of action, Primextra Liquid Gold® provides excellent control over the most common weeds during sunflower cultivation, including difficult ones such as cereal sprouts, Alpiste (Phalaris spp), Ash (Chenopodium album) or Ciennudos (Poligonum aviculare), among others.
The productive potential of the sunflower crop is strongly influenced by the competition that weeds have in their development cycle. An effective and prolonged control of weeds is essential to protect the crop and obtain its full potential, particularly during the early planting stage. With residual action, a marked system, excellent selectivity on the crop and the absence of problems in rotations, PrimextraGold® is an indispensable tool to control weeds in the sunflower crop from the start.
The advantages of this new herbicide include its dual mode of action, which provides excellent herbicide control avoiding the emergence of resistance; the control of the most difficult herbs in pre-emergence (Chenopodium album, Poligonum aviculare, Sinapis spp or Phalaris spp) and even cereal regrowth; the effective control of weeds from the beginning of the implantation of the crop, by what is allowed to reach the productive potential of the crop in the absence of competition for nutrients; its ease of application, with a single application in preemergence; its high quality formulation, which allows an excellent coverage in soil free of lumps; and that it is perfectly tolerated by cultivation during pre-emergency applications.
Among the recommendations for sunflower areas include always applying during the preemergence of the crop, when the seed has adsorbed the moisture of the soil, that is, it is swollen and before the cotyledons emerge; spraying evenly at low pressure (less than five atmospheres), using well-calibrated equipment, with continuous agitation; and using a broth volume of 200-300 l/ha. It is also necessary to avoid application on windy days and it is better to apply it when the soil is free from lumps, so that it is better incorporated.
During dry conditions (the lack of rain or timely irrigation), it is advisable to perform the treatment with mechanical incorporation. This will be done in the following way: first, superficial work will be carried out to achieve a surface that is smooth, uniform and free from lumps. The herbicidal treatment will be carried out and, subsequently, a mechanical incorporation of the product will be made with an optimum depth of between 4 and 7 cm.
Primextra Liquid Gold® is a new example of how Syngenta is betting on accelerating innovation and offering professional farmers solutions that help them produce better and more sustainably, thus increasing their productivity and efficiency.
