Australia to approve insecticide etofenprox
Date:11-19-2019
The Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority (APVMA) has proposed to approve a new insecticidal active ingredient, etofenprox. Etofenprox is an insecticide proposed initially for use in stone fruit for control of Queensland fruit fly and Mediterranean fruit fly.
Acts on the nervous system of insects by disturbing the function of neurons through interaction with the sodium channel. Etofenprox has a contact and stomach activity against a wide variety of insect pests, with fast knockdown.
SIPCAM Pacific Australia Pty Ltd has applied before to the APVMA for registration of the new product Trebon Insecticide, containing 287.5 g/L, as an emulsifiable concentrate formulation of the new active constituent etofenprox.
Consultation on etofenprox approval will be closed on 17 December 2019.
