Grupo Agrotecnología’s bioinsecticide TEC-BOM obtains registration approval in Greece
Date:11-06-2019
A natural insecticide against whiteflies, TEC-BOM, manufactured by Grupo Agrotecnología, a leading company in the biostimulant, biopesticide and biofertilizer sectors and a pioneer of the zero-waste strategy, received approval for its phytosanitary registration in Greece.
The product is already approved for use in Spain, Cyprus, Portugal, Ireland and the United Kingdom, and is awaiting approval in Italy and Morocco. This new achievement of the company will help to strengthen its international expansion and achieve its zero-waste environmental strategy.
TEC-BOM is a natural insecticide comprising various types of saponified vegetable oleins that effectively control whiteflies that affect greenhouses, Bemisia tabaci and Trialeurodes vaporariorum, which are feared pests that cause considerable damage to tomatoes.
TEC-BOM can dissolve chitin and the protective layer of the soft exoskeletons of insets, damaging their cell membranes and causing death by asphyxiation and dehydration. In addition to its effective resistance management, it does not leave any phytosanitary residue on crops. Therefore, there is no need for a specified safety period and it is non-toxic to auxiliary fauna. It also has a cleaning effect on the surfaces of plants, dissolves molasses produced by various insects, and decreases the proliferation of fungi. Due to its ultra-low surface tension, it also acts as a powerful adhesive for other treatments, destroys the habitat of pests and diseases, and decreases the surface tension of water.
After the appearance of pests, it is applied by foliar spraying with a maximum of three applications at intervals of five to seven days, which is necessary to cover the entire crop. It is also suitable for organic and integrated agriculture, in accordance with Regulation (EC) Nº834/2007.
The group plans to obtain further approvals for TEC-BOM and lead the natural biopesticide registration market. According to Enrique Riquelme, CEO of Grupo Agrotecnología, the product’s registration in Greece “is a new achievement and the result of our considerable efforts and continuous work and our investment in the biopesticide sector, and, finally, due to our commitment to the environment and biodiversity and developing zero-waste products.”
“Grupo Agrotecnología is immersed in the process of internationalization, to consolidate our presence in new markets and enable us to become an international leader,” he added.
