Syngenta launches Acuron Flexi herbicide in Canada
Date:09-11-2019
Syngenta Canada Inc. is pleased to introduce Acuron® Flexi, a corn herbicide with three active ingredients and two modes of action for broad-spectrum control of key driver weeds, including lamb’s-quarters, redroot pigweed, and annual grasses. It’s also an effective tool for managing new emerging threats such as glyphosate-resistant Canada fleabane and common waterhemp. Acuron Flexi is a pre-mix of bicyclopyrone (Group 27), mesotrione (Group 27), and s-metolachlor (Group 15).
“Keeping fields clean through the critical weed-free period is an essential part of preserving corn’s yield potential, but it’s just one of many tasks growers need to juggle early in the season,” says Joe Vink, Product Lead for Corn and Bean Herbicides. “The planting season can be compressed due to adverse weather conditions and it can be difficult to manage weeds before corn emergence on the farm.”
Acuron Flexi offers the widest window of application in a single corn herbicide, from pre-emergence to the six-leaf stage, enabling growers to start their herbicide application prior to emergence and continue treating up to the six-leaf stage on all of their corn acres. This flexible, single-pass weed control allows growers to focus on managing weeds and maximizing yield potential.
“A corn herbicide that fits the busy spring season means less stress on both the grower and the crop,” Vink says. “That’s why we’re bringing Acuron Flexi to Quebec growers.” Acuron Flexi will be available for the 2020 season and will be sold in a 2 x 9 L case that will treat 12 to 15 acres or a 450 L tote that will treat 300 to 375 acres at the labelled use rates.
