India's Agriculture Dept inspects pesticide shops

To ensure the quality of seeds, fertilisers and pesticides for the farmers, the Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Department raided shops selling pesticides under ‘Tandarust Punjab’ mission here from Aug.27th.
Chief Agriculture Officer (CAO) Dr Nazar Singh said: “Shops of pesticide dealers of block Noormahal and Talwan were checked by Agriculture Development Officers (ADOs) Dr Surjit Singh and Dr Gurcharan Singh.
He said: “The team collected three samples of various pesticides and samples were sent for examination.”
Reiterating the firm commitment of the state government to safeguard the interests of the farmers, the Chief Agriculture Officer said the department was putting in all out efforts to ensure the sale of quality pesticides in the district under “Tandarust Punjab” mission.
“The officers of the department have already been directed to plug sale and storage of any kind of spurious pesticide to ensure that farmers were facilitated at every cost,” he added.
