YPF Brazil announced that it is diversifying its line of agricultural products with the release of adjuvanted mineral oils. The ADJUVANT C line, which is available in two formulation types, has been developed for application in conjunction with agricultural pesticides and can be used with most chemical control systems in the market.
"We are bringing to the market a clean, high-performance vehicle with no side effects and at fair prices. The lack of a clear regulation in Brazil opens up gaps that can result in health risks for farmers dealing with the adjuvant and the end consumer, both of whom are at risk of acquiring food contaminated with toxic elements such as nonylphenol and other harmful substances," said Fabio Lopes, manager of the Agro Project at YPF Brazil.
According to Lopes, adjuvants manufactured from petroleum derivatives contain carcinogenic elements such as poly aromatic hydrocarbon. In addition, lower raw materials and shallow refining processes often cause disruptions such as the burning of sheets, clogged equipment and, at worst, the contamination of the environment.
YPF claimed that it is different, as its product line is made from reliable and high refining mineral oils. According to them, this ensures better absorption by the leaf, without affecting the health of the farmer and the consumer.
According to the company, the products have the technical support of the YPF matrix plant, which is located in Argentina. The brand is the leader in the production of adjuvants in the South American country, and is among the largest in South America, with a turnover in 2018 that surpassed US$20 billion.
Lopes also revealed that YPF's initial strategy is to offer the middle market an adjuvant with excellent cost-benefits. "We will fill a market gap that lacks a superior product at competitive prices, especially in farms and cooperatives."
To reach the public, the company is promoting workshops and explanatory workshops, especially for orange and soy producers in the interior of São Paulo. The company's objectives include increasing its market share and to be recognized in the market of inputs for the agribusiness. For this, YPF Brazil intends to increase its portfolio with other products for agriculture.
Logistics is another advantage that makes YPF Brasil stand out, since it is located in Diadema, with easy access to the port of Santos. This, according to the company, optimizes the distribution, currently more concentrated in the interior of São Paulo and in orange, banana and soybean crops. Restructuring and expansion of distribution channels, including points of sale, are already underway. The perspective is to attend to all types of crops in the national territory.
In Brazil since 1998, YPF had its own factory in the country since 2015, with a production capacity of 36 thousand tons per year. YPF is the leading hydrocarbons exploration and production company in Argentina, being the largest company in the country, with a 40% market share in lubricants, and one of the most important brands in Latin America. Its lubricant plant in La Plata is one of the most modern ones in Latin America, being 100% automated, with excellence in quality, ISO 9001, 14001 and TS 16496 certifications.
