Gafta Approved Fumigator Status for SGS in Canada and SGS in Romania
Date:05-23-2019
SGS in Canada and SGS in Romania have gained "Approved Fumigator" status from Gafta, the Grain and Feed Trade Association, against its new Standard for Fumigation.
The two new Certificates of Conformity were awarded by Gafta following recent successful audits and mean both SGS in Canada and SGS in Romania will now be listed on Gafta's Approved Register of Fumigators, launched in September 2018.
The new Standard for Fumigation, a revision of the GTAS Fumigation and Pest Control manual, was established in June 2018 to improve the level of competence and understanding about infestation, pest control and fumigants in traded agricultural commodities markets. Gafta's new directives state that if goods are traded on Gafta contracts that incorporate the 132 Fumigation Rules, a fumigator from the Approved Register must be employed.
Alexander Stock, Fumigation Business Development Manager at SGS said, "As a world leader in pest control and fumigation, we are delighted that our business divisions in Canada and Romania are now listed on Gafta's Approved Register of Fumigators. With more of our business divisions gaining 'Approved Fumigator' status, we are increasingly well-placed to ensure clients around the world benefit from our fumigation services to prevent insect-related risks and damage during the transportation and storage of commodities."
