U.S. corn planting did make some progress over the past week but remains slower than normal.
The USDA says that as of Sunday, 15% of this year's crop is planted, compared to 6% a week ago and the five-year average of 27%, with nearly all the top production states continuing to see weather-related delays. 3% of the crop has emerged, compared to 3% last year and 5% on average.
For soybeans, 3% of the crop is planted, compared to 5% a year ago and the usual pace of 6%.
64% of winter wheat is rated good to excellent, up 2% on the week and 31% on the year, with 19% of the crop emerged, compared to 9% a week ago and 29% typically this time of year.
Weather is also affecting spring wheat planting, with 13% of the crop sown, compared to 33% on average.
The USDA's first pasture and rangeland condition rating of the season is expected next week.
