PBI/Gordon Corporation has received EPA registration for their new Zylam 20SG Systemic Turf insecticide. Zylam 20SG, which contains dinotefuran, is a soluble granule labeled for key turf insect pests such as chinch bugs, annual bluegrass weevils, crane flies and mole crickets. State registrations for the product are complete and availability is expected in January 2011.
“We are very excited about Zylam and our opportunity to have a strong insecticidal product with the latest generation neonictinoid chemistry,” says Jim Goodrich, Product Sales Specialist for PBI/Gordon’s Turf and Ornamental Products Group. “It is highly soluble which allows for rapid plant uptake and quick translocation throughout the vascular tissue; protecting the entire plant from hard-to-control turf insects. When you need to control those tough insects, you need ‘muscle in your tank’ – you need Zylam!”
Zylam 20SG will be available to customers in January 2011. A liquid formulation labeled for tree and shrub insect pests will be available summer 2011. It will control a wide range of pests including: armored and solf scale and lacebug, whiteflies, thrips, emerald ash borer and caterpillars.
