“China will improve the supply capacities of soybean and oil plants,” stated the MOA, “In particular, the Chinese administration is going to push forward the action to increase the output and economic effect of fine soybean varieties, improve the criteria to subsidize the soybean, expand the area of soybean in Northeast China and Huanghe-Huaihe-Haihe region, and develop new varieties of high yield, high oil content, and high protein.”
In addition, the 2019 Work Focus of the Planting Industry pointed out that the self-supply capabilities of cotton and sugar should be maintained, “The supporting policies for cotton and sugarcane/beet should be completed, and the cotton and sugarcane/beet production should be centralized in advantaged producing areas for large-scale production. The planting area of cotton should remain at 3.3 million ha and that of sugarcane/beet around 1.5 million ha.”
