Date:03-01-2019
The formal launch of ASCENZA, which definitively replaces the SAPEC AGRO brand, took place on 13th of February in Lisbon, with the participation of stakeholders from more than 17 nationalities, from different global regions. ASCENZA brand is launched in the market with a renewed position and image that will be the basis of the international expansion.
The launch event was divided in two parts: the workshop - "Farming your Future" in the morning, and a brand activation event at the end of the day at the Cruise Terminal in Lisbon. Regulators, industry associations, customers and employees from all over the world were present.
The new visual identity is inspired by the cork oak and the Mediterranean forest, as they reflect the origins, culture and strategy of the company, since this forest is known for its longevity, resilience and versatility. ASCENZA aspires to be distinguished in the same way: a symbol of resilience and constant adaptation in service to farmers and agriculture.
The ASCENZA General Manager, Joao Martins, explains: "ASCENZA means to ascend, to grow. We believe this is the premise: the new brand reflects evolution, business transformation and expansion project. "
And adds: "We want to position ourselves as a global reference in the area of off-patent solutions with differentiation. To achieve this, we are strengthening our international presence, investing in highly qualified human resources, and investing on the development of differentiated offer solutions to our customers."
ASCENZA has been present in Portugal for more than 90 years, until now as Sapec Agro, standing out since the 60s in the field of crop protection. Iberian leader in the segment of differentiated generics, has a growing presence in the markets of southern Europe and Brazil.
With a strong growth in turnover in recent years, more than 75% of what is produced at the plant in Setúbal (Portugal), is exported. It has about 580 employees, of which about 35% are highly qualified. The company was acquired by BRIDGEPOINT CAPITAL SA in 2017.
