Sinon introduces insecticide Assaris in Brazil

 

The agrochemical company Sinon has announced the pre-launch of insecticide Assaris (Methomyl). According to the Taiwanese company, the product  "strengthen the portfolio, with action on pests that are difficult to control, such as the caterpillar Spodoptera frugiperda, which  attacks soybean and corn crops."

 

Assaris acts as an acetylcholinesterase inhibitor, controlling pests and caterpillars from agricultural crops by contact or ingestion. It can be used to control corn pests in pre-planting until the end of the crop cycle. Still, according to the manufacturer, the product is selective in controlling natural enemies.

 

The insecticide, launched by Sinon, also has been registered for cotton pest control, which makes this technology very important for Brazilian producers, who face difficulties in controlling Spodoptera frugiperda in cotton crops.

 

"Assaris was approved by the Ministry of Livestock and Food Supply (MAPA) in September, and since then the entire Sinon team has been committed to making the product available to the market during this harvest. Concerned about the low availability of raw material supplies in China, the company  arranged to supply part of this demand with the insecticide, since it has its own factory in Taiwan," said Emerson Teixeira, responsible for the development of Sinon products in Brazil.
