Date:12-05-2018
Mitsui Chemicals Agro Co., Ltd., in collaboration with Japan Agricultural Cooperatives (JA), will promote the development of a new herbicide, CYRA® (common name: cyclopyrimorate). Mitsui Chemicals Agro has applied registration for product containing CYRA® as an active ingredient in Japan recently, the sales to the market is expected to start from 2020.
CYRA® is a novel rice herbicide invented by Mitsui Chemicals Agro and has proven to be highly effective against weeds in paddy fields. It has a novel mechanism of action and is also effective for weeds resistant to ALS (acetolactate synthase) inhibitor, which is found to occur in paddy fields in Japan. In addition, it is also applicable to simultaneous rice planting or direct seed cultivation, which is increasingly used in recent years, because it is highly safe against paddy rice and can be expected to have long-lasting effectiveness.
The company is aiming to sell CYRA® products from the 2020 pesticide year. In the future, Mitsui Chemicals Agro, in cooperation with JA, will proceed with preparations for launching and will continue to develop new mixtures for CYRA® to meet the needs of rice farmers.
