Bayer CropScience is consolidating two of its divisions into one business unit.
Bayer Environmental Science North America is the new group that was formed from Bayer Advanced, a consumer product focused group, and Bayer North American Professional.
The consolidated group will be based in RTP, said a spokesperson form Bayer CropScience "This is a restructuring to enhance collaboration across businesses (Professional and Consumer), so there have been some changes in roles and responsibilities, but this is not a downsizing," a Bayer executive said.
"Future changes in staff will be dependent on the business environment going forward.
"Approximately 235 staff members will be part of this organization (including sales, marketing, manufacturing & support functions)."
Jacqueline Applegate, who led the Bayer Advanced group, will lead the new group.
Bayer CropScience operates its U.S. headquarters in RTP.
Josh Weeks, the leader of the Professional group, will retire Nov. 30.
“The new organization allows us to keep the focus even more on end-user needs to meet market dynamics, leverage the resources and knowledge within our organization and maximize innovation,” Applegate said in a statement.
