Monsanto lowers its 2011 trait prices

Red River Farm Network reports:

Monsanto is readjusting its trait prices for the 2011 selling season.

SmartStax corn seed will be priced at a $20 premium to the existing triple-stack, down from a $60 premium this year.

The premium for Roundup Ready 2 Yield soybeans will be in the $5 to $6 range, down from $20 this year.

Monsanto is also dropping the requirement that farmers purchase a seed treatment for the crop.
