The Brazilian Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa) has prohibited the manufacture, distribution, commercialization and use of the insecticide brand "Trainseto Fulminante". The product was being sold in Brazil without having a registration, notification or registration with the agency, and even the manufacturer is unknown. The ban became effective on October 31.
The sanitary measurements of Anvisa also were cause for the seizure of the product throughout Brazil. "Registration is the legal act that recognizes the suitability of a product in abiding by sanitary legislation, and its concession is given by Anvisa. It is a control made before the commercialization, being used in the case of products that may present possible risks to health ", according to the agency.
Anvisa explains that, in order for products subject to health surveillance to be registered it is necessary to comply with the criteria established in the legislation and the specific regulations of the Agency. "The manufacturer or importer company is responsible for the quality and safety of the products registered with Anvisa. Resolution 59/2010 provides for the technical procedures and requirements for notification and registration of products," noted Anvisa.
The ban on Trainseto Fulminante was determined by Resolution 2.990, dated October 31, 2018, and was published in the Official Gazette (DOU). The ban is valid throughout Brazil and is already in force.
