A total of 188,499 kilos of microbiological pesticides were sold in Brazil in 2017, according to the semi-annual reports sent by companies to IBAMA, the Brazilian Institute of Environment and Renewable Natural Resources. The country produced 135,847 kilograms of active ingredients, with 34,713 kilograms imported, and sold only 194 kilograms abroad.
According to IBAMA, among the active ingredients marketed are Aspergillus flavus, Bacillus pumilus, Bacillus subtilis, Bacillus thuringiensis, Bacillus amyloliquefaciens, Baculovirus anticarsia and Beauveria bassiana.
For the "Semiochemical, Microbiological and Biological Control Agents" products, the public agency reports covered a total of 54 active ingredients, including 33 semiochemical, 14 microbiological and seven biological control agents.
Last year, the sale of Semiochemicals was 8,484 kilos of active ingredients. Although many have low concentrations of active ingredients, there are products with concentrations up to 900 g / kg, according to the bulletin released by IBAMA.
For the "Biological Agents of Control", information on Cotesia flavipes, Cryptolaemus montrouzieri, Neoseiulus californicus, Phytoseiulus macropilis, Trichogram galloi, Trichogramma pretiosum and Stratiolaelaps scimitus have been reported. "However, the data is under analysis and will be published later," noted the Brazilian Institute of Environment and Renewable Natural Resources.
"According to legal provisions, companies must submit reports within the established deadlines. Failure to present, or to present incorrect information, can result in penalties under the legislation," the public agency reported.
