Brazilian seed company Agristar do Brasil has invested R$ 10 million in its headquarters. Located in Santo Antônio de Posse (SP), the company's headquarters has been receiving resources since last year in the modernization of its industrial machinery, storage, stock and office area.
The new structure now includes the Commercial, Financial, Accounting, Marketing and Information Technology departments, which formerly comprised the Itaipava (RJ) unit, closed at the end of last year, which now coexist with previously existing ones. In the external area, the expansions included increased storage and production capacity.
The main objective of the unification of the units of Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo, according to the President of Agristar do Brasil, Steven Udsen, was to create greater integration between teams and sectors, more speed of information and execution of tasks. "All this reinforces our ongoing commitment to improve the overall operation of the company, creating greater agility in order fulfillment. The unification of the teams of Rio with the activities of São Paulo allowed for better communication and teamwork, "he points out.
According to the Director of Operations, Silvio Valente, the Santo Antônio de Posse unit has been receiving large investments since 2017, modernizing its industrial park and doubling its office space. "The investments also increased our production and inventory capacity, as well as the expansion of the offices and the works that increased our storage capacity by 42% are finished and in operation. The industrial area was expanded from 4.756 m² to 7.216 m², and the cold room now has the capacity to store 3,888 m³. In total, the company went from 6,200m² to approximately 10,000,000m², "says Valente.
Other investments were also made in the unit of Guimarânia (MG) and Orizona (GO). According to Maurício Coutinho, director of product development, explains that the new area in Minas Gerais is bigger and, therefore, it will be possible to increase the work capacity. "We have built a new office, housing and shed infrastructure, as well as a new, more efficient and practical irrigation system and cages. Our work focus is the tropical breeding of carrots, eggplant, okra and tomato type Santa Cruz, with 100% national genetics. These product groups represent approximately 8% of the market potential in Brazil and are strategic for Agristar to increase its market share within them in the coming years." For Orizona, a new seed calibrator and a coriander wrapper were purchased, which, according to Silvio Valente, will be installed in January 2019.
Currently the company also has other units focused on research and product development, located strategically in Mossoró (RN), Ituporanga (SC), Jaíba and Guimarânia (MG), the main producing poles of the country.
