Andermatt Biocontrol’s bioinsecticide Helicovex obtained approval in Canada

Andermatt Biocontrol’s subsidiary Sylvar Technologies Inc. obtained approval by Canadian authorities for Helicovex, a baculovirus product produced by Andermatt Biocontrol to control corn earworm (Helicoverpa zea) and other Helicoverpa spp..
 

Helicovex got granted for use against corn earworm (Helicoverpa zea) in sweet corn. Corn earworm and other Helicoverpa spp. belong to the most damaging pests in agricultural production on a global level. Helicoverpa spp. are highly polyphagous and are known to have developed resistance against various chemical pesticides. Therefore, the registration of Helicovex now offers Canadian farmers a valuable and reliable biological tool to manage Helicoverpa spp. infestation in sweet corn. The product is well suitable for organic, IPM and resistance management strategies.
