According to the Director of Marketing of Santa Clara Agrociência, Marcelo Rolim, the company's goal for the next few years is to take advantage of what he described as a "favorable environment" for the entry of new technologies into the Brazilian agricultural production chain. The company has entered into a partnership with Embrapa to develop new technologies and products in the next three years.
Rolim explained that the partnership with the Brazilian public company of agricultural research seeks to develop new technologies of natural origin with the effect of bioprotection of plants against pests and diseases. With this, it intends to make possible efficient alternatives for the management of commercial crops.
"In this project, we will investigate organisms and molecules with the effect of biocontrol, and develop technology for its large scale production and formulation suitable for agricultural use. The result will be the generation of national technology, capable of offering a new management option for all farmers, both in terms of financial profitability, as well as the environmental and social impacts of conducting their activity," explained Rolim.
"The intensification of crops, with the existence of large continuous areas of planting, associated with increased productivity and the use of inputs, and the dynamism of tropical agriculture (alteration of the pest / disease / invasive plant complex, resistance development, loss of efficiency and limitation of available molecules), generate an environment that constantly seeks new alternatives for crop management. The growth of knowledge and environmental awareness also makes the segment more open to sustainable technologies, to the adoption of integrated management and even biocontrol," he added.
According to Rolim, to take advantage of this window of opportunity, the company carried out well-structured product development and validation work, with the installation of a large test network and an efficient funnel for the approval of proven solutions. "We used this information for presentation and dissemination of the company's technologies, passing on confidence to the users and influencers," he said.
"We also conducted several field demonstrations in all regions where we are operating, giving farmers a chance to experiment with new technologies and prove their reliability. Well-positioned technologies and consistent results can be easily adopted after these actions," he explained.
