The names of the winners of a contest for the development of the new multi-site fungicide, Reconil, were announced recently. The Albaugh product, based on copper and aimed at soybean diseases, will arrive in the market during the summer 2018-2019, after being studied deeply in experimental crops in the country’s new agricultural frontiers.
According to Albaugh, the pesticide is ideal for soybean growers to invest in“resistance management”. Albaugh highlighted that the product could speed up the plant’s metabolism through its high electrical conductivity and facilitate the photosynthesis, bringing higher yields.
Rural producers were organized in doubles to develop strategies for the effective control of soybean diseases and systemic fungicide resistance management to the fungi present on crops. The contest winners were agronomist Claudney Secco, commercial representative of the company, and Brand Kazuma, technical consultant at Vilela, Vilela and Cia Ltda. The tests conducted by the winners overcame the indicators obtained with the producer standard treatment, bringing significantly high measurements of sustainability on the soybean disease treatment.
“The data collected in the field showed that Reconil is in a very competitive position in the market of multi-site fungicides for soybeans,”summarized Reginaldo Sene, head of portfolio and development of Albaugh. The goal of the North American company is to“revolutionize the market of generic pesticides”.
According to Daniel Fiedlander, marketing manager at Albaugh Brazil, the use of multi-site fungicides should increase in the coming years in Brazil, especially the formulation based on mancozeb, chlorothalonil and copper.“These active ingredients respond to 35% of the potential multi-site market and will grab a slice of 80% of the market in 2020. The sector will jump from US$200 million to $400 million because such products are consolidated season after season. The cupolas gather better agronomic development and a competitive advantage in price,” said Fiedlander.
Reconil will be the flagship of Albaugh during 2018-2019, seeking representation of 50% of the market of protective fungicides based on copper until 2022. However, Paulo Tiburcio, Albaugh Brazil's commercial and marketing director, said that this is not the only launch of the company. “We plan to deliver to the market the most effective copper fungicide line, called Hibio, reinforced by the high bioactivity of the composition ion-copper,” he concluded.
