DOWDUPONT launches Acanto® Way+Pexalon™+Sporxy™ high-yield product combination in China’s major rice production region
Date:08-13-2018
In an effort to target and control the damage of pests and disease in China’s major rice production province Jiangsu, DOWDUPONT has launched a high-yield product combination for prevention and control of paddy field pest and disease damages, utilizing its distinctive product advantages.
The product combination comprises the fungicide Acanto® Way (picoxystrobin.propiconazol 19% SC), the insecticide Pexalon™ (triflumezopyrim 10% SC) and the Sporxy™ (spinetoram.methoxyfenozide 34% SC).
Acanto® Way is a novel fungicide based on the mixture of the strobilurin fungicide picoxystrobin and the triazole fungicide propiconazole which are highly effective in the control of rice sheath blight and rice false smut. Its excellent systemic activity can effectively protect crops and can treat crop diseases, as well as enhance plant health.
The resistance level of the main pest to pesticides has been rising regularly. Close monitoring in 2017 reveals drastic rise of resistance of the rice planthopper and rice stem borer to conventional pesticides. Pexalon™ and Sporxy™ have got a brand-new action mechanism, which provide promising prospects for control of resistant insect and pest in rice field.
The action mechanism of triflumezopyrim differs from that of conventional insecticide. Although with an action on acetylcholine receptor, it has no cross resistance to nicotinamide insecticide. Pexalon™ is an excellent product based on this active ingredient launched by DOWDUPONT this year for control of the rice planthopper, which not only effectively controls various planthoppers but also has the advantage of lasting longer and acting faster while being free of the effects on natural enemies. In the meantime, it greatly enhances the quality and yield of paddy rice.
Sporxy™ is used for the control of the rice stem borer and rice leaf roller. The rice stem borer occurs frequently and is the most critical boring insect that infects paddy rice in China, having become increasingly resistant to abamectin and chlorantraniliprole. Sporxy™, with its a unique action mechanism, can be used both as alternate pesticide and also as a resistance management tool. The product can remarkably delay the resistance that pests develop to insecticide.
