Pyribenzoxim gaining increasing registration in Chinese market
Date:07-19-2018
By Think Real - Since 2017 pyribenzoxim products have recorded growing registration in China. Between Jan. and April 2018, there were a total of 11 pyribenzoxim registration issued, vs. 10 in full-year 2017, according to the Institute for the Control of Agrochemicals, Ministry of Agriculture (ICAMA).
As of the end of April 2018, altogether 26 pyribenzoxim products were in valid registration, including 10 pyribenzoxim TC, 9 pyribenzoxim EC, 3 pyribenzoxim OF and 4 other formulations.
In 2010, LG Chem, Ltd. obtained registrations for its 95% pyribenzoxim TC and 5% pyribenzoxim EC (trade name: Pyanchor), marking the start of pyribenzoxim registration in the Chinese market. Later in 2013, Syngenta registered 30.6% pyribenzoxim + pretilachlor EC (trade name: “Saolete”, 扫乐特) for weeding in paddies. In 2014, Suzhou FMC Crop Care Co., Ltd. registered 9% pyribenzoxim + cyhalofop-butyl ME and became the first domestic pyribenzoxim register.
Pyribenzoxim has gone off patent for six years, yet it is still showing great market potential. Currently, EC formulations are the focus of most pyribenzoxim developers. Meanwhile, to strengthen the efficacy against rice weeds like Chinese sprangletop, many manufacturers have launched their pyribenzoxim mixtures with pretilachlor, cyhalofop-butyl, and penoxsulam, types of formulation including EW, ME, and EC.
