Genome Editing in Agriculture: Methods, Applications, and Governance

The Council for Agricultural Science and Technology (CAST) recently released and issue paper on genome editing. The task force that developed the paper includes NC State University’s own Dr. Jennifer Kuzma, a professor in the School of Public and International Affairs. Dr. Kuzma is also co-director of the Genetic Engineering in Society Center at NCSU. The paper covers how genome editing is done and the types of editing that are possible, how it relates to traditional breeding and other methods of genetic modification as well as limitations with the technology and factors affecting the regulatory process.
