A new productive unit of Santa Clara Agrociencia was inaugurated in Jaboticabal, Sao Paulo, Brazil with the aim of expanding the company’s presence abroad. The factory is a result of an investment worth 7.5 million real and has increased the productive capacity of the company 10 times, from 2.5 million kg/liters of inputs to 26.9 million kg/liters per year.
The unit will be responsible for the production of items such as organomineral formulations, soluble salts, concentrate solubles, biological pesticides and synthesis components for multi-functional products, besides the composition created by a suspension of nanoparticles. João Pedro Cury, executive-director of Santa Clara, said the intention is to focus on making high-quality inputs that do not harm the environment.
“Of the 100% investments that the company projects, some 60% to 70% will be directed toward biocontrol and bioprotection crop areas,” he remarked.
The group’s choice for installing a new plant in Jaboticabal is justified by the proximity of the place with universities and research centers, by the easiness of logistics for receiving raw materials and expedition of products and by easy access to qualified labor. Cury explained that besides relying on the collaboration of local entities and students, the intention is to continue to sign partnerships with other companies to guarantee technology exchange and the possibility of joint development.
“Some companies in Brazil have commercial staff, but do not have industry. Santa Clara outsources its formulation several times, and yet develops technologies with the brands of third parties. We will also make it the other way around, in the sense that some companies that have technologies that Santa Clara does not have will also distribute with their own brand some products produced by third parties,” he mentioned.
According to Cury, the inauguration of the unit is compatible with the period of high growth that the group enjoys with an annual expansion of 48% in the last five years. Besides this, he also highlighted that Santa Clara is seeking more penetration in the international market and the new unit is a step toward this goal.
“The company has projected growth in Europe, which is the main focus area, but China and India are the markets the company is aiming at, because of their huge population, and the fact that the two are already big agricultural powers in the world market,” he concluded.
