India Punjab Agri Dept to hold Pest Monitoring Programme
Date:06-08-2018
It is the second annual year that the Department of Agriculture, Punjab, is organising Pest Monitoring Program in Punjab in collaboration with Guru Kashi University (GKU) and other institutions. The program is part of the ongoing efforts by the state government to increase cotton production, reduce recurring pesticide costs and help save the environment.
Around 45 trained agricultural graduates of GKU have been selected to monitor the Pest Control Programme this year. It is the first time that such a large number of agriculture graduates have become part of the state-owned agricultural project for working in close association with farmers. All candidates have been selected on the basis of academic performance and their intent to work with farmers.
The four-month-long Pest Monitoring Program aims to collect information on different types of pests’ problems occurring throughout the crop season.
