Corteva Agriscience, agriculture division of DowDuPont, will launch during this year a new line of herbicides, XT Technology, which can eliminate up to 80% of weeds. The foliar application, which combats semi-woody and woody plants, guarantees rapid results and lower incidence of bounce.
XT Technology promises to combat even the most invasive plants, such as the orchid tree (Bauhinia variegata), the Brazilian Peppertree (Schinus terebinthifolius), and even vine. Ludmila Soares, sales representative at Corteva in Goiás, said one of the biggest advantages was that different species of vegetation could be controlled with only one product, without mixture and problems of compatibility in the field.
“The big difficulty of a located application is the people and labor. For instance, if I have a hard to control plant, I have to brush and immediately make an application, so that demands people, and high cost,” she pointed out.
Bruno de Paula, responsible for the market development of pasture at Corteva in the Center-North of Goiás, said the company was the only one in the sector that invested in research and development of new products to combat the challenges that livestock production imposed. He said the goal of the company with the launch of XT Technology was to promote better gain for the livestock grower by increasing productivity. “We already have a big portfolio that attends to a big part of the challenges. Now, the new products of the XT family will help the rancher even more.”
After nearly nine years of research and regulation, three products of this line—Dominon XT, Troeno XT and Planador XGT—should be available in the market by September 2018.
