BRA AgroquĂmica registered bioinsecticide ARCAR in Brazil
Date:04-13-2018
BRA Agroquímica registered in Brazil the ARCAR, a new microbiological insecticide that has conidia of the fungus Metarhizium anisopliae as its active ingredient. The product is of the line ESALQ E9 (Exclusive Koppert), which is the active ingredient in Metarril® WP, its main target is the root spittlebug (Mahanarva fimbriolata).
In addition, the new biological product presents excellent solubility and suspensibility characteristics, which proves its excellent dispersion in water and field application conditions.
Indicated for the management of resistance of insect pests to chemical insecticides, ARCAR is ideal for Integrated Pest Management (IPM), preserves the natural enemies of pests and is not toxic to the environment, human health and animals.
The insecticide should preferably be applied in the late afternoon or on cloudy days, with temperatures between 25 and 35 degrees and air relative humidity of the minimum 60%. The person in charge of the application must also carry out the previous cleaning of the spraying equipment and avoid ready syrup.
The mechanism of action works as follows: the conidia of the fungus germinate on the surface of the insect-plague, penetrating into its integument and colonizing it internally. Thus, the release of toxins inside the insect reduces its mobility to death.
Subsequently, the insects colonized by the fungus become immobile and covered by a layer of conidia, visible to the naked eye in green tones. The entire process occurs within 12 days after application, depending on the weather conditions.
