An Italian producer of organic fertilizer, biostimulants, and microbials for agriculture, Italpollina, intends to open a new research center in Anderson Park, IL next to the firm’s new North American headquarters and production facility.
Dubbed Italpollina Park, the site will work on product development and research in areas like phenomics and metabolomics. Plans call for a phenomics greenhouse with numerous growth chambers to produce biostimulants.
“The park represents further confirmation of our commitment to being a leader in sustainable and environmentally responsible agriculture,” said Luca Bonini, the firm’s chief executive officer, in a statement. “We are proud to announce the creation of Italpollina Park, a unique industrial and scientific center that will be a world landmark for the secor, and set the highest standards in the biostimulants market.”
The company invested $9 million in the 700,000-sq-ft headquarters and manufacturing plant, which will produce biostimulant fertilizer from soybeans when it becomes operational, according to a Jan. 26, 2016 report by the Anderson Herald-Bulletin.
Founded in Italy in 1971, Italpollina today operates in more than 80 nations.
