First-ever official approval for emamectin benzoate in Brazil got by Syngenta's PROCLAIM® 50
Date:12-05-2017
Syngenta obtained the definitive federal registration for its insecticide PROCLAIM® 50 (emamectin benzoate) for use in soybean, cotton and bean crops in Brazil, following successive approvals from ANVISA (National Health Surveillance Agency), Ibama ( Brazilian Institute for the Environment and Renewable Natural Resources) and MAPA (Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply).
Registered in more than 90 countries, the product formulated from emamectin benzoate becomes the only one on the market to have this definitive national approval. PROCLAIM® 50 will be available to farmers starting 2018 as an indispensable ally with proven efficiency in combating difficult-to-control caterpillars. Institutions such as UNESP, Chapadão Foundation and Mato Grosso Foundation among others, in partnership with Syngenta carried out various studies to demonstrate that PROCLAIM® 50 protects the plants in the first hours after application, through a rapid penetration of the product in the foliar tissue (translaminar action). After ingestion, the insecticide blocks the feeding of the caterpillars and paralyzes them.
"In addition, the product has an excellent efficacy, highly selective against natural enemies and a broad lepidopteran spectrum control combined with a high residual effect," says Aimar Pedrini, Insecticides portfolio manager at Syngenta.
"Emamectin benzoate is a highly esteemed insecticide in the field, due to its excellent performance in combating caterpillars, with remarkable selectivity for important natural enemies," says Geraldo Papa, a researcher at UNESP. According to the researcher Germison V. Tomquelski, from the Chapadão Foundation (Mato Grosso do Sul), "PROCLAIM® 50 delivers at least 90% control of Helicoverpa armigera, being considered as an important tool for integrated pest management protecting your crop health and your yields".
Having received priority classification for registration by MAPA, PROCLAIM® 50 brings together characteristics and performance differentials that meet the needs of farmers in Brazil, who deal with the threat posed by the proliferation of difficult-to-control caterpillars. "We are very confident in the results that PROCLAIM® 50 will deliver in terms of controlling this type of pest from the next harvest. By enabling solutions that protect the productivity of crops, we continue to fulfill the commitments made in our Plan of Sustainable Agriculture (The Good Growth Plan), "concludes Aimar.
