Australia to approve ISK’s insecticide cyclaniliprole

The Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority (APVMA) is considering an application for the registration of ISK Cyclaniliprole 50 SL Insecticide containing 50 g/L cyclaniliprole in a soluble concentrate formulation. The product is to be registered for use as an insecticide to control the codling moth in apples.
 

Cyclaniliprole is a new anthranilic diamide insecticide proposed for agricultural use. Similar to other diamide insecticides such as chlorantraniliprole and cyantraniliprole, cyclaniliprole is a ryanodine receptor modulator and known to impair nerve and muscle function which leads to rapid feeding cessation, regurgitation, lethargy and contractile paralysis of insects.

 

ISK Cyclaniliprole 50 SL Insecticide is the first product containing the active cyclaniliprole proposed for the Australian market.

 

The APVMA invites comment from 14 November 2017 to 12 December 2017 on whether the application for registration of the product should be granted.
 

The APVMA is able to consider comments relating to the legislative grounds for registration, including:

• occupational health and safety

• public health

• chemistry and manufacture

• residues in food

• environmental safety

• trade

• efficacy and target crop safety
