Sapec Agro launches new insecticide molecule in Portugal
Date:11-17-2017
Portuguese company Sapec Agro announced this month the launch of its new insecticide/acaricide Embaixador 224 EC. Formulated with the active ingredient chlorpyrifos-methyl, the product is an organophosphorus with three complementary modes of action: contact, ingestion, and fumigation. Though not systemic, it acts at the level of the nervous system of insects by inhibiting the cholinesterase enzyme. It is classified by the Insecticide Resistance Action Committee (IRAC) as belonging to group 1B.
According to the manufacturer, Sapec Agro, Embaixador 224 EC has an “excellent residual profile, good shock effect, and elevated action persistence”. It is a larvicide which, in general, should be applied when mobile forms (larvae) of the insects are detected.
According to the leaflet, the product is effective against a wide spectrum of different diseases, including those that are hard-to-access. Therefore, added the Portuguese company, it allows an integrated management of those crops for which it is authorized: apple, pear, citrus and vine.
“This is a different product for a time when the sector of insecticides has fewer solutions at a global level. We provide an important tool, completely adapted to current requirements of farmers and the food chain, noted Sapec Agro.
