US EPA approves PBI-Gordon’s fungicide Kabuto for spring dead spot
Date:11-07-2017
PBI-Gordon announced that the U.S. EPA recently granted federal registration for Kabuto SC Fungicide (isofetamid) for use in the treatment of spring dead spot in warm-season turfgrass.
Labeled for use on golf courses, sports fields, and residential and commercial turf, Kabuto is a proprietary formulation for the preventative control of SDS, and the preventative and curative control of dollar spot (including control of carboxamide resistant dollar spot). It inhibits all stages of development in the fungal lifecycle, and can be applied up to eight times per year as part of a resistance management program.
“Spring dead spot is, without a doubt, the most severe disease for warm-season turfgrasses such as Bermudagrass,” said Jim Goodrich, fungicide product manager for PBI-Gordon. “The disease appears in circular patches that remain dormant as the Bermudagrass comes out of winter dormancy. The turf in these patches eventually collapses to the ground, leaving sunken areas in the turf that severely detract from its uniformity and playability.”
