New record set for oilseedrape production in Chongqing, China
Date:05-14-2010
Commissioned by the MOA Office of Enhancing Rape Oilseed Production, the Chongqiang Municipal Agricultural Commission organized experts to carry out field assessment on yield capacity of the 10,000 mu high-yield demonstration land of rape crop in Nanchuan District. The result indicates that the highest yield per unit reaches 233.1 kg, marking a breakthrough against the previous per unit yield of lower than 200 kg.
According to the assessment, the average yield per unit stand at 149.1 kg/mu, 169.5 kg/mu and 203.2 kg/mu for the 10,000 mu of demonstration land, 1,000 mu of core land and 100 mu of breakthrough-achieving land. The highest yield per unit was measured at the two-mu tillage free land for high yield of rape oilseed with direct sowing belonging to a farmer named Xing Boshu.
The tillage free and direct sowing technology can save the labor cost of farmers by 80-170 yuan, and can create an excess profit between 310 and 400 yuan per mu. Meanwhile, the flowers of rape crop provide a good feature for the agricultural ecological tourism in the local region, bringing additional income to the farmers.
